Flight Guide

Use the selectors below to find the right disc for your game. Match your arm speed and throwing distance to the recommended stability range, then shop the collection that fits.

Step 1 — Find Your Arm Speed

Throwing Distance Arm Speed Recommended Max Speed Rating
Under 200 ft Beginner / Casual Speed 7 or less
200–275 ft Intermediate Speed 8–10
275–350 ft Advanced Speed 11–12
350 ft+ Expert / Power Speed 13–14+

Tip: Throwing a disc rated faster than your arm speed produces extra fade and shorter distances. Start conservative — accuracy beats distance.

Step 2 — Pick Your Disc Type

Disc Type Best For Typical Speed Range Shop
Distance Driver Maximum distance off the tee Speed 10–14+ Shop Drivers →
Fairway / Control Driver Accuracy-first tee shots & long approaches Speed 6–9 Shop Drivers →
Mid-Range Consistent approach shots, gap shots Speed 4–5 Shop Mid-Range →
Putt & Approach Inside 100 ft, circle 1 & 2 putting Speed 1–3 Shop Putt & Approach →

Step 3 — Match Stability to Your Shot Shape

Turn / Fade Numbers Stability Category Flight Shape (RHBH) Best For
Turn: 0 to -1, Fade: 3–5 Overstable Strong left finish Headwinds, spike hyzers, reliable fade
Turn: -1 to -2, Fade: 1–2 Stable / Neutral Gentle S-curve or straight finish Most situations; reliable workhorse
Turn: -3 to -5, Fade: 0–1 Understable Turns right, gentle finish Beginners, rollers, tailwind turnover shots

All flight descriptions are for right-hand backhand (RHBH) throws. Left-hand or forehand throws will fly mirror-image.

Step 4 — Choose a Plastic

Plastic Type Durability Grip Price Tier Best For
Base (DX, Pro, R-Pro, KC Pro) Low — wears in quickly Excellent $ Beginners; practice discs; intentional seasoning
Mid-Grade (Star, ESP, GStar) High Very good $$ All-weather play; everyday bag disc
Premium (Champion, Z-Line, Halo) Very High Firm / consistent $$$ Tournament rounds; long-term stability retention
Specialty / Collab runs Varies Varies $$–$$$ Collectors; limited releases
